Lately, I’ve had the chance to make a quick day trip to Milan, so I couldn’t miss the chance to have a good old NYX Cosmetics Haul!
The Italian online store only opened a few days after my visit, so visiting the stores was the only chance I had to get (most) NYX products. Even if the store was fully stocked and without customers (it was really early), I got flustered and forgot half of the products on my list. My bank account is not complaining about that though.
The number one thing I really wanted to check out were the new Duo Chromatic Illuminating Powder. Unfortunately, they only received the restock that morning, so they were only able to dig up one shade. That shade is Snow Rose, which is, as the name suggests, a white base with pink and lilac reflects. Which is also probably the most wearable shade of the bunch, so a good way to start diving into the very trendy colourful highlights that seem to have taken over the makeup world in these past weeks.
The Faux White Eye Brightener pencils just looked so fun. I am a sucker for a pop of colour, especially on the lower lash line. Before seeing them in person, I was afraid that they wouldn’t be pigmented enough and look white when applied. I was totally wrong. Obviously, these pencils are pastel colours, so they are white based. But they are a nice pop, without being too ‘in your face’ bold. I picked up Mint Cream, but I totally wish I got more shades.
One of the first things from NYX I ever got was the White Liquid Liner. Boy, was that a disappointment. It just needs so many layers to look opaque, but then it starts cracking and falling off. Bummer. But I’ve been feeling really colourful, with the start of Spring and everything. Since crazy colourful makeup is not the easiest to find, I decided to give their liquid liners another try. Again, I wish I picked up more shades but the Vivid Brights Liner in Vivid Halo is the one that spoke to me the most.
My mum just loves her neutrals, so I picked the Lid Lingerie Shadow Palette for her. Obviously inspired by their best-selling Lip Lingerie line, this palette has six matte shadows, some cool, some warm toned. I didn’t have time to even take pictures that she already had dug into it.
Then I set my eyes on the glitter and that’s when I lost it. I spent 15 minutes picking one up then putting it back, then picking another one up… The final two contenders were the red one (Ruby) or the holographic (Crystal). As you can see I went with Ruby because I convinced myself I didn’t have enough cool toned shadows to pair with Crystal. I might be still dreaming about it at night though. And of course, I had to pick up the Glitter Primer and hopefully I won’t bring the glitter with me to the grave.
